We heard the words "safe" and "safety" several times in the first part of that speech.
While it is bold to talk about an exam school or money for public parks, there was no drive to talk about small businesses or even incubator cultures like Gateway park.
It was all about expanding "services (read "government") in one form or another.

Raising taxes of course is never mentioned in polite company. Its all done in backrooms, out of sight of the media and public's eyes.
Fealty? Rumor has it, he fell on his knees and kissed their asses.
Does anyone believe that this city actually belongs to the taxpaying citizens? We are all at the mercy of unions, residents and businesses alike.
