To revive a city, say for example Wusta, you need a vision. Then a man with a plan. The City of Marlborough has one. Some 90 pages chock full of ideas. Their man is the MEDC.
Wustas version of the Marlborough Economic Development Corp. is the Worcester Business Development Corp. They have just a couple of fact sheets with vague phraseology and a myopic vision.
The MEDC has a vision for Marlborough. Recently they released a detailed master plan to carry the city into the next century. Interestingly Marlborough has the same commercial/residential tax disparity as Worcester and yet they're growing. As good as can be expected in this economy - incorporations are up over last year. Just like in Wusta. Interestingly businesses in Marlborough aren't whining about tax disparities, they're working at making money.
And what’s Worcester got? Well we got a bunch of business people whining about taxes instead of working. Makes me think. What happened to Mayor Joe O'Brien's Business Task Force recommendations from August 2010?
Looks like Mayor Petty's stuck in first gear. Instead of leading Wusta to economic glory, he's bogged down with council bickering. Don't think that was part of his plan.
Welcome to Wusta!

They're working on it Will.
Hey Anon. Um... how many decades has that been now?
Sustain is still waiting for those high paying manufacturing jobs that the unions turned into low paying foreign sweatshop jobs.
Kinda like waiting for the next upgraded version of the Betamax to come out before you start finally using recorded video content at home.
